A no fly zone over Ukraine is a horrible idea

So, this one is going to be short, but I keep seeing people pushing for the US or NATO to impose a no fly zone over Ukraine. This is a terrible idea. Here's why. When you impose a "no fly zone", how is it going to be enforced? With US/NATO jets shooting down anyone over it. And whose jets are going to be flying over it? Russia's. And shooting down their jets means we are directly engaging in combat with Russia right? Meaning we are now at war with Russia. Another nuclear power.

Look. There are clear limits to what we can do and how far we can go with punishing Russia and hamstringing their invasion. The sanctions and arms provided to Ukraine are those limits. Any further and it's war with Russia. And before people think Putin is going to attack NATO. No, he is not. Unless NATO provokes them directly and forces a conflict. Putin isn't as insane or stupid as some people think he is. he might be pissed, but he's still a rational actor and he's still not going to engage in war with NATO.

Honestly, the best thing we can do is keep doing what we're doing right now. Between the intense economic pressure of the sanctions, the advanced weapons that Ukraine is using against the Russia military, and Ukraine's smart tactics and strong resolve in pushing out the Russian invaders, Russia is probably going to burn itself out anyway. By the way, that's why they're aiming for civilians and infrastructure intentionally now. They know they can't win and are on borrowed time, so they're trying to inflict as much damage as possible before being repelled. It's a desperate last measure tactic. If Ukraine can outlast this phase of the war, then they won. And Russia will go home empty handed, outside the corpses and burned out vehicles they haul home with them.

So....Ukraine can win this without a no fly zone, and honestly, NATO getting involved would just escalate things into WWIII. Just stay the course. What is being done now is working. It will just take time for Russia to tire itself out.
