Why did the second weekend of the battlefield beta feel worse than the first?

So...there was a second weekend of the battlefield beta and it got a much more critical reception than the first weekend. However, not much actually changed between the weekends. it's the same game. So why did it feel worse?

To be fair, it felt worse for me too, and I know why. The first weekend was the honeymoon period, and in the second weekend the flaws became more apparent. We got the same maps, plus one, and most of the maps were small. And while despite what the fanbase says, we have had small maps in battlefield before, these felt very small and repetitive. And the map flow was just...chaotic. The levels were confusing, people were popping their head out everywhere, movement was hard to predict. And it just grated on people.

And then the larger map was a sniper's paradise. Like full stop, the memes about there being like 50 snipers on ridge 13 are somewhat accurate. It's the one map with actual distance and most people just...snipe. The map flow is kinda crappy.

To be fair, these issues arent new with battlefield. And the community gets nostalgic for a past that was never great and whitewashes issues. A lot of larger battlefield maps the community loves tend to have horrible flow. Wait until operation firestorm comes back. Do you enjoy having to cross hundreds of meters of open desert from your uncap to get to point A or E? If not, well, have fun doing exactly that! Not saying you cant have good competitive games on firestorm when the teams are good, but battlefield has always had an issue where in cases of team imbalance, you're just screwed. In the past people just accepted it and forget that those problems existed, but I remember.

All in all, is the game bad? No. It's a quite good, quite solid battlefield. Despite its flaws, it's probably the best battlefield game in 10 years. I mean, better than 2042? Definitely? 5? Also definitely. Hardline? Also definitely. Better than 1? That's the one BF game I'd say is comparable, and yeah, I'd still say this is better, although 1 was very good. It did adequately recapture the magic of 3 and 4 enough and the reason people are so critical is standards are just way higher now. Like, we're never gonna recapture the magic of old games because gamers think differently now.

People complain about BF6 because people are figuring out "meta" builds and spamming them. but previous BF games had metas too. Remember BC2 with the AN94 with magnum ammo? Or BF3 with the M16? Or BF4 with the AEK? Or me running the P90 in BF3 and the G36 in BF4 because I like low recoil guns that make me super consistent? The thing is, metas became a thing as gaming went competitive post 2016. Back in the day, people just played and meta builds always existed, it's just that gamers are way more competitive now. Which is also why you got all the slide cancelling weirdos too. Zoomers are just built differently for FPS games and games arent as casual any more. And now you get some 22 year old streamer bro finding ways to break games in ways that didnt exist in the past.

And with COD accusations, as I said, it's not that battlefield became more like COD...maybe the map design is reminiscient of COD's maps in a way, especially the smallest ones, but for the most part, I'll still insist that what really happened was COD became more like battlefield. Well unless youre one of those weirdos who thought BF2 was the greatest thing ever and simply being infantry friendly is a bad thing.  I already covered those guys. but yeah.

That's BF6. It's solid, but the nature of gaming has changed where no one can be satisfied with everything. The community is nostalgic for a past that never actually existed, and much like with the halo community, even if the older games were released as they were at the time, everyone would tear them apart. Again, because standards change, people expect more, and to be honest, you cant make everyone happy. And I ain't saying the game is perfect. It's not, but it's pretty close. Like a 9/10.

The thing is, when we play these betas, since they're limited time, we play for hours a day while we can, and it just...gets old and grates on us. The flaws become apparent, and grate on us.  All in all, I put in probably like 30-40 hours over the past 2 weekends. For 8 days of play, that's 4-5 hours a day. So yeah, maybe we should just...get off the fricking computer and touch grass. Which I've been doing somewhat today. But yeah. You play anything for that long and you get tilted and every minor flaw stands out. in reality, normally, i can only stand to play competitive games like 1-2 hours a day these days without getting tilted. it's only when games are new and super engaging i can play more. Otherwise, I'm just like F THIS GAME, F ITS FLAWS, THIS IS BS BLAH BLAH BLAH. Because again, I get tilted.

First weekends, it felt really good, second weekend, we played too much in too little time to the point where we got tilted. That's why the community is more negative. These games arent designed to be played for hours and hours every day. You do that, they get old fast and every flaw grates on you. Chill out guys, the beta is over, go do something else for your life now. Come back when the game is out and play at a more reasonable rate of time and it'll be more fun.
