Discussing the 2023 election results and wondering if democrats are doomed in 2024 after all

So, I wont post links since theres too many to look at, but everyone seems to be saying that democrats CRUSHED in the 2023 election results this week. And I really have to wonder, are democrats screwed in 2024 after all? It seems like democrats are a lot more motivated than given credit for, especially when stuff like abortion rights are on the ballot. The fact is, the republicans are just losing on social issues. They pushed too far on issues related to stuff like abortion and they're being destroyed as a result.

It should be noted I kind of expected 2022 to be a bad year for democrats too. It looked like a red wave was going to come in and wipe them out. Then roe v wade was overturned and the red wave turned into a red trickle. It's possible that could happen here, as people become more motivated to vote for democrats in 2024 simply because the GOP have become so horrifyingly extreme. And it's possible that the reason polling numbers are so low for democrats now is there are a lot of people who lean left who dont really like Joe Biden, but who are looking desperately for an alternative. it's possible, like me, they'll just realize everyone else would suck worse and that I guess we're stuck with the guy.

Again, like even though I'm putting down leftists like Stein and West, and also other centrists, I'm not a huge fan of Biden. He's just...the guy we currently have, he's not terrible. He's already the incumbent. He would be a lot more progressive if he was given free rein and wasn't held back by the other branches of government. And yeah. That's my argument for Biden. He's there, he's not half bad. And I do suspect whatever cringe people feel from the idea of voting for him, that the country may come around.

Maybe the democrats arent screwed after all. And maybe the republicans are finally losing their luster with the public as a whole where they realize they're batcrap insane and have nothing positive to offer the country. We will have to see.
