So yeah, when dems ignore me and spit in my face with my interests, I react with hostility. When dems do things I like, I'm going to praise them for it. And now Biden is going to join the UAW on the picket line next week. This is one of the most based things biden has ever done. What have right wing populists ever done for unions? Not a darned thing. Currently many right wingers are bashing the strikers. As I said last night, you can't trust right wing populists to do the right thing.
Im not saying you have to be ride or die on unions to be a progressive on economic issues. My on human centered capitalist mindset diverges from the organized labor tradition significantly and I'm fine with litigating those differences. But as things stand unions are one of the most effective ways to improve worker conditions, so anyone who legit seeks to improve the conditions of workers should be at least somewhat pro union.
Normally it's only people like Bernie who do stuff like this. And everything bernie does is more or less based, outside of his opposition to UBI of course. So seeing biiden do this? Based. Love Dark Brandon sometimes. "Listen jack, you're gonna get good pay and worker benefits, and you're gonna like it." Yeah, that's a solid way to connect with the left.
All of this is making me more likely to support Biden in 2024 despite whatever differences I have with him, just saying. I couldnt see Hillary Clinton doing this crap. Or even obama, whose pro worker actions in the early 2010s actually did a lot to shape my existing perspective. And Bill Clinton? Forget it.
Again, dont buy into right wing economic populism. Biden is doing all of the good things those guys claim to want. And if you don't like Biden....well....start considering some other left wing economic tradition like social democracy/progressivism, socialism, or human centered capitalism. The right has no answers.
And if youre a right wing economic populist and you vote for Trump or another republican, congrats on selling out the causes you claim to care about.
