Dear conservatives: relax, your lifestyle will be fine

So...the amount of hyperbole and doomposting I see from conservatives over liberals winning elections and taking over the government is hilarious, but also concerning. it's hilarious because these people are fricking delusional, but also scary, because they literally believe this stuff, and they are fighting like cornered animals, as if their way of life really is under attack from democrats.

As someone who is a former conservative who has gone through all of this before, I'm just gonna say, relax, you'll be fine. Seriously, this isn't even the first time republicans acted like this, they acted like this in 2008 when Obama won too, and we put up with a lot of delusion there. heck, as a former conservative, I can honestly say that it was the same crap then. Everyone played up Obama as this black atheist muslim (aren't they two different things?) socialist who believed in "liberation theology" (a third thing?!) and wanted to redistribute wealth from the first world to the third. It was some serious deluisional cope.

And, idk, at the time I obviously didnt believe all the weird crap about his religion as he was clearly christian (although reverend wright seemed sorta insane to me at the time), although I did believe he was a socialist. Of course, I considered all dems left of the clintons socialists, so...yeah. Ignorance at its finest.

And then Obama governed, he spent tons of money in his first 2 years stabilizing the economy, although I just focused on the national debt at the time. But then after the tea party had a red wave in 2010 and the GOP retook the house, that's where suddenly I kinda realized Obama wasn't that bad. Obama was legit trying to compromise with the GOP and the GOP was literally shutting down the government to get more tax cuts...while claiming to care about the debt. And honestly, I really woke up in 2011 to how the GOP were the bad guys, and shifted left as a result. There's a reason my political journey is so centralized around 2012, that's where my entire worldview changed and I developed the views I now hold.

Yep, those are my general political views over time, and retaking the political compass I'm still roughly where I was in 2021, although I would say I might be slightly more lib left in practice due to the Trump administration.

But yeah. Just...imagine that. I was scared of Obama, then Obama ended up being milquetoast, I ended up seeing the GOP as the crazy ones, and now I'm well to Obama's left.

And guess what? Even though my own views are basically everything the right fears for the most part, outside of being literally overly woke and communist, guess what? I STILL ain't gonna end peoples' lifestyles.

Like...if i had my own way, taxes would go up, yes, but you'd have affordable to free healthcare, education, housing, and a nice check from the government every month. You'd be financially stable for the rest of your lives, no strings attached. 70-80% of you would be better off, with those worse off being the wealthiest in society anyway. Even then, they would still be very well off, just not so crazy well off as they are now (since their living standards are so above and beyond everyone else's).

Socially, you would still be able to practice your religion, you wouldnt be able to force it on others. You also wouldnt be able to discriminate against others. It's kinda wild we act like if white men don't just get to have a hierarchy over everyone else that society is doomed. Quite frankly, the idea seems pants on head stupid. And I'm a white man, just for the record. Seriously. I don't get the hierarchy BS. People act like its a zero sum game and it isn't. Like...if one group isnt oppressing another, that doesnt mean the other group will be oppressing us. Sometimes it just means no one is oppressing each other, and that's what we should want. Like, wtf is wrong with people?

But I digress. Point is, you'll survive the next democratic administration. You'll survive Zohran Mamdani being the mayor of NYC. You might even have your lives improved by those things. I mean, it's why I left the right. I realized my life would be better under not just liberal administrations but progressive ones, and that conservatives were the ones actively making our lives worse. So yeah.

It's like what gandalf said that one time in LOTR, we're not trying to rob you, we're trying to help you. I know a lot of liberals make a bad case for that. I mean, to be fair a lot of them are arrogant, self righteous, and quite frankly, USELESS jerks. But the problem with them isn't that they're too far left, but not left enough. Seriously, their problem is they try too hard to be half conservative while being totally insufferable about it, and I get it. But even then, we should be cheering the takeover of the democratic party by progressives. We should celebrate our Bernie Sanderses, our AOCs, our Zohran Mamdanis over our Hillary Clintons, Chuck Schumers, and Andrew Cuomos. Point is, you'll survive. Chill out. Enjoy life. Stop acting like it's the end of the world because you dont get to just dominate others with your religious, racial, and economic hierarchy BS.
