Dear blue maga, this is not a surrender, this is a tactical retreat

So, I'm already seeing the dem narrative pick up, that voting for Biden for 2024 is just the start of it, and we'll need to KEEP voting blue consistently in future elections, and blah blah blah. So, I do want to set the record straight.

I may be voting for Biden this time, but I'm doing it of my own volition, on my own terms. I will NOT guarantee my vote in future elections. Future democratic candidates will have to earn my vote. You guys are lucky we're dealing with an existential threat to democracy in a year where the center of gravity is leaning toward the right where there's virtual no actual demand for a left with candidate. You're lucky your centrist candidate, after you spent the entirety of time since 2016 crapping on me, actually did go out to try to earn my vote.

We have an alliance of convenience this time, nothing more. if you want me to keep voting for you, you will need to keep earning my vote. Look at my metrics. Look at how Biden actually is fairly passable by their standards. That's the new minimum. If you can't even accomplish that with future nominees, dont me surprised if I myself stop supporting you. That's one of the issues with hillary. I perceived her as even more centrist than Obama. I didn't want someone more centrist than obama, but more left. I think that you completely failed to understand what drew me to the left in the first place in 2012, it was the current democratic nominee pursuing policies that made me want to vote for them.

It's not enough to say GOP bad in every future election. Donald Trump is a unique threat to democracy, and while we can agree all republicans suck, some are more tolerable than others. At least someone like Mike Pence or Nikki Haley wouldnt overthrow the government and have some love for country, no matter how crappy they may be. Not that I would ever vote for them, but that doesn't mean I would have to support you guys either.

I am, ultimately, loyal to my own ideas and my own conscience. Do not take me for granted. That is what cost my support in 2016 and 2020 in the first place. You might have me backing Biden for 2024, but don't get too comfortable, in future elections, I'm going to play things by ear and support who I want to support. In some elections, it might be you, in others, it might be the third party candidate. You will have to meet me where I'm at to earn my vote and if you can't even meet me a reasonable part of the way, then don't be surprised if I don't support you in the future.

The point is, don't think that because I "bend the knee" this time, that I will do so every time. Because I'm not kneeling. This is not an act of submission. I'm supporting by my own free will. Make sure you understand the difference going forward.

Put another way: I don't HAVE to vote for the democratic nominee. This time I WANT to vote for them. There is a difference. Learn it and don't take me for granted in future elections.
