So, it's come out that apparently what the FBI was looking for were documents related to nuclear weapons. Yikes. Apparently Trump took them with him to Mar A Lago, and he never gave them back when he left office.
Now, I'm going to assume the best possible explanation here. Trump might be a terrible president who is dangerously incompetent and even has an authoritarian side where he tried to steal the election, but while the dude is a traitorous piece of crap for Jan 6, I don't think he's enough of a traitorous piece of crap where he was actually doing anything shady with these documents. I'm going to assume that what ended up happening was the dude just...took them with him, which he probably shouldnt have done, and forgot about them. I could actually see Trump doing it. He's a moron who flouts every law and is dangerously incompetent.
But, here's the thing. This is criminal negligence. If this were anyone else, they would be throwing him in jail and asking questions later. You dont screw around with documents related to nukes. That's extremely sensitive material that probably has some of the highest levels of national security classification, and you don't want that falling into the wrong hands. I mean, just taking it out of where it belongs should probably be a severe crime because if the wrong people were to stumble onto it, well, that could compromise our national security.
Anyway, it seems clear that the government needed those documents back, and a raid on Trump's home given his apparent refusal to hand them over seems justified, to say the least. Again, he should be lucky he aint in jail just for that.
So I dont really want any naysayers acting like we shouldnt have done this because it might inflame Trumpers. First of all, this seems totally justified, and second of all the Trumpers have a perpetual stick up you know where. Given they attacked the capitol over lies regarding the election being stolen, I dont care what they think.
And honestly, the trumpers are freaking out over it anyway. The link above describes how someone took a gun to an FBI field office over it, and I also saw a link saying Guiliani is talking about raiding Biden's home in 2024.
Uh, if sleepy Joe leaves documents about nukes at his home and forgets about them due to dementia or whatever, go for it. I dont care if you go after politicians on my side of the aisle assuming the actually did something wrong and its the most reasonable course of action. Otherwise, the right is being ridiculous.
Again, these guys cant be reasoned with. You cant reason with the right. They live in an alternative reality based on fear and blatant lies and arent worth trying to appease, since they'll just twist anything into a conspiracy theory anyway. Again if their worldview isn't based in reality, it literally doesn't matter what you do or don't do. Even if you do everything right, they'll just make crap up to feel outraged about.
