So the CDC has finally said today that if you are fully vaccinated, you no longer have to wear a mask, and the covidiots are already all over this screaming about how their local governments are tyrannical for continuing to force people to wear masks. I felt like writing a short post explaining this.
Long story short, it's because most people aren't vaccinated yet. Only 35% of people are fully vaccinated, and to be perfectly honest, you're not fully immune until 2 weeks after your second shot, so that number is much lower. I got my first shot in late March and my second one in late April, and I'm only considered good to go a few days ago. An additional 11% of people have had their first shot, but they're not fully immune yet. So, less than half have had any vaccine, and only about a third have had both shots.
To reach herd immunity , we would need at least 70%, and people are wondering if herd immunity is ever truly possible given how prevalent the virus is now, and how quickly it is mutating. We are likely going to need booster shots in the future.
Regardless, most Americans are NOT vaccinated. That said, people are still catching and spreading the disease. While those who get the vaccine are given cards showing they've been vaccinated, could you imagine every place carding people every 5 minutes to make sure only the right people don't wear masks? I mean, it would be a logistical nightmare and given how pissy the covidiots get over compliance to any rule, it's better just to assume everyone isn't vaccinated from a policy standpoint and support blanket mask wearing.
Perhaps in another couple months, most of the population will have the vaccine, and life can truly get back to normal, but we are not there yet. I want to emphasize this. Yes, things are getting better, but we are NOT there yet. I don't know why everyone is trying to force stuff. Everything has to open, we need to get everyone back to school, we should stop wearing masks, blah blah blah. STOP FORCING IT. Everyone is trying to force crap back to normal. It's all this capitalism crap and needing to make money, and being unwilling to give people money so they can live without work (cough), and people being unwilling to give up any luxury temporarily for the common good, it's pathetic. Ya know, previous generations sacrificed by going to war. Today our generation's big crisis is "stay home, watch netflix, play video games, and stop spreading this deadly disease" and americans go apecrap. I am so embarrassed by this country's response to this crisis and refusal to follow even basic directions and common sense.
I'm sorry, but governors, like my governor Tom Wolf, are correct in enforcing guidelines still. You're gonna have to wait a little longer. I assume we will likely be back to normal by, idk, August/September, but it literally probably will take that long. July minimum. So continue to wear your masks, and do your part. And get the vaccine. Yes, it will likely make you tired and feel like crap, but it's better than dying. No, it won't give you a microchip in your arm, or autism. It gives you a protein that's a fake version of the virus (assuming Pfizer/Moderna) and your body then fights it off. Any side effects are a normal immune response.
The sooner you all take this vaccine, the sooner you can go back to normal and we can go back to this capitalist dystopia everyone is clamoring for for whatever reason. But until then, mask up, social distance if you aren't vaccinated yet, and follow the rules.
UPDATE: It does appear many states are loosening restrictions on the unvaccinated. Which is a good thing. Not sure how they'll enforce it yet, but some states are going along with recommendations.
