So, a disturbing trend I've noticed among establishment/rank and file democrats over this past week is a complete and utter lack of comprehension over why they lost. It's like, they're stuck in their little echo chamber of conventional logic that doesn't apply to these unconventional times, and they really really don't understand why the voters didn't turn out for them. Either that or they really don't care and are just trying to astroturf their narrative again, it's hard to tell which.
Either way, the extent to which democrats are out of touch is astounding. It's as if they're trying to come up with every excuse possible for why HRC lost, without actually addressing the core issue. They seem to think if it weren't for Sanders spoiling the nomination for Clinton and showing her up as a superior, more likeable candidate, that she wouldn't have lost. If those darned ingrates who stayed home they wouldn't have showed up they wouldn't have lost, and if it weren't for Wikileaks or Russians or James Comey, they wouldn't have lost. But all of these excuses ignore one common thread: that people didn't like Clinton. That she was a flawed candidate many of us hated in the first place. And regardless of this, the democrats seem to maintain this idea that people owe the democrats votes, that they don't have to earn them, and that it's ultimately their fault, not the DNC's or Clinton's, that they lost.
That seems to be the core problem the democrats have, more than anything. They wanted HRC, they gave us HRC, and they're mad we didn't vote for HRC. I've seen some democrats talking about how they need to stop listening to the "radical fringes" and move more to the center where they can cultivate a following of democrats who will show up no matter what, because you know, screw being independent and thinking for yourself. It's really astounding. It's like the idea of actually appealing to voters has never occurred to them. No, they just want easy mind slaves they can manipulate.
Listen, democrats, I'm trying to make this as easy for you as possible. I'm a disaffected democrat. I would have gone democrat if they had something to offer and didn't have such an awful attitude toward their voters. I live in a swing state. I live in a swing state you guys just lost for the first time in almost 30 years as far as presidential elections go. I'm a voter, and despite all my rhetoric about third parties, I actually would like to support the democrats as long as the two party system is a thing, because they are the more left wing party. But if you don't have anything to offer me, I will go third party again.
Really. I can't make it any clearer than that. Listen to me. Just listen to me. Listen to others like me. Listen to people who will openly come up to you and tell you why we wouldn't support you. This is no big secret, we're not hard to find. Many of us are extremely vocal and want you to know exactly what the problem is. So please, listen to us. If you don't listen and you don't learn, you have no one to blame but yourselves, yet again. This whole mental acrobatics thing I'm seeing in which establishment dems come up with ways to ignore the obvious is astounding. They relied on establishment logic, ignored their voters, lost, and are now trying to interpret said loss through establishment logic that failed them in the first place. And once again, I can't tell if they're really this ignorant, or if they really don't care. Perhaps it's a bit of both. Either way, it's frustrating. So please, turn off your establishment brains for just a second and listen to us if you actually do care. You need to earn our votes. You need to put forward candidates we can get behind. You need to stop treating your base like crap. If you really want votes, listen to us. Just listen to us. If you really don't care, then hey, I guess you should get used to 8 years of Trump unless you find another demographic to tap into.
