So...the centrists are out in full force being as caustic as ever, and I had the unpleasant experience of engaging with some of them today. ya know, the types who think Graham Platner is literally a wife beater and a Nazi, and that Abdul El Sayed is an anti semite. So I'll say it.
Look, you guys have been telling us to vote blue no matter who for ten years now. If you can't vote for these candidates and you'd rather Mike Rogers or Susan Collins win, then you have no business ever invoking that argument with us ever again.
At the very least, you don't practice what you preach. You talk oh so much about harm reduction and how harmful the republicans are, and how we must support a democrat, ANY democrat in order to avoid the republicans, but you really don't care about that, you don't see Trump as the threat you said you did.
Even worse, some of you guys are literally saying that you'd rather the republican win, that you identify more with republicans than you do with the likes of Graham Platner. Okay, well, at least you're honest about it. But you know what? WE KNOW. We KNOW that a lot of you guys are just moderate republicans. And as far as I'm concerned, if that's how you feel, please, do us a favor and gfto of the democratic party. Not only will you moderate the fascist GOP back to relative sanity, but you'll allow us to move left on policy.
I mean, seriously, blue no matter whoers seem to be using the threat of voting for susan collins as some sort of "own" to us, saying that we broke the social contract of the dems by not voting for centrist candidates, but let's face it, all you're showing us is you never believed in that crap to begin with, and that you would rather a republican in office than us.
Even worse, you guys are still playing these weird psychological games and gaslighting us and acting like "it's our fault" you're doing this, when all you're doing is engaging in the kinds of tactics abusive spouses would engage in. And trust me, we know that we're in an abusive relationship with you guys. And the only reason Im sticking around at this point is to beat Trump. So to see that even you "harm reduction" guys dont actually view trump as the threat that you hyped him up to be is sad, because even I believe it.
Anyway, I wish you luck in the GOP, you're gonna need it. Trust me, I came from there, I know how they treat their moderates. Heck, maybe after dealing with them, you'll realize how horrible they are and finally get on the same page as the rest of us where you actually want to end them as a political faction once and for all. Not violently of course, but electorally, at the ballot box. because that's exactly the path I took. I WAS a moderate republican, the tea party horrified me, and I shifted my ideals so fast I wanted nothing less than to see the reagan coalition destroyed electorally. And as far as my tactics? I know that you need to break a few eggs to make an omelette. If that requires breaking the dems a bit to make them WAKE THE F UP and stop flirting with their ideas and ideology, so be it. And if you support their ideology over mine, then so be it. At the very least I hope you serve as an insulator to their fascist tendencies.
All I know is this, you "moderates" are some of the most anti charismatic people out there. And honestly, any party that accepts you is watered down and made worse. I saw it in 2008 and 2012 when i was a republican, and I've seen it from 2016 onward as suddenly mccain/romney voters tried joining the democrats and watering us down. No one likes you guys. you act like you're oh so electorally important, but any faction that gets stuck with you ends up losing. It's because you guys bring that second party system whig energy to the party, and no one likes that but you. So yeah. If the republicans get stuck with you, all the better. We'll be the populist party, and bleed supporters from the trumpers. And I'll get the party I always wanted, and you get this super boring, weak, republican party that turns from its extremist tendencies.
Either that or you get thrown out on your ### as you recognize that MAGA won't tolerate your crap either, and will treat you even worse than we did. Heck, maybe at the end of the day, you WILL see us as the lesser evil. After all, that's what I did. And that's why I think as I do.
Oh, and to address one more response I got. One person was like "I dont understand, arent you grateful Biden tried to cancel $20k student loan debt?" I mean...Bernie wanted to cancel all of it, $10-20k was an insultingly small amount that doesnt really solve the problem, and the policy was watered down mostly by dems. This user tried to blame us because BUT THE COURTS! But honestly, Biden tried to go through the courts because the democratic controlled senate wouldnt actually do the job properly. We didnt pass ANYTHING because of the parliamentarian, Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, refusing to abolish the filibuster. you guys told us that had to settle for $10-20k in the name of pragmatism and incrementalism. And then you couldnt even do that. You basically lied to us. You watered down bernie's proposals, got into office, couldnt pass them anyway, and then you blame us. Again, abusive behavior at its finest. Screw you guys. You dont believe in these policies, you never did, and listening to the same person then go on about how student loan forgiveness was a giveaway to the rich that they didnt agree with really goes to show how little political imagination these guys have.
Like really, I got told I lack political imagination because of it being a "giveaway" to the rich, but honestly, you guys are the ones who cant imagine a world where everyone can go to college for free and not have student debt. We wanna solve the issues, you guys wanna do infuriatingly moderate tweaks that don't do F all to solve the problem. And then you blame us when you fail, when you dont even believe in the concept.
Again, please be my guest and join the republicans. We dont want you here. You're just holding us back and not allowing us to get anything done anyway. And the reason a lot of us dont care and are willing to vote third party is with you guys in charge, we're screwed anyway, and we all know you're basically just moderate republicans anyway. So if you come clean and vote for collins, well....par for the course. I wish you guys the best of luck in wrestling the GOP from MAGA.
