So, I just got my mail in ballot yesterday. I filled it out and mailed it. And now I'm going to encourage people to vote. There are important issues going on this year. Not just my core economic vision, but stuff like abortion rights. If you're in a swing state and there is a gubernatorial election this year, get out and vote. State level politics isn't super important for like UBI and medicare for all as much, but it's just about the last line of defense in preserving abortion rights now that Roe is gone. Democrats MUST maintain control of either state legislatures or governorships if we want to preserve abortions. I know I'm not much of a blue no matter who guy, but yeah. This is an election for playing defense.
If you have a senatorial election in your state, I also encourage you to vote. Right now, it looks like we're gonna be stuck at 50-50 again. We ideally want 52 seats. Dark Brandon ain't great, he ain't gonna deliver on UBI, medicare for all, etc., but his build back better agenda was decent and he had some good ideas like paid family leave and the child tax credit. Also, if you live in PA, where I am, for the love of god, PLEASE get out there and vote for Fetterman. The dude is Bernie Sanders but with tattoos. DOn't let him lose. He is literally the model of a bernie progressive running on appealing to working class issues. Right now he's up I think...3.7%? That's enough to win but given democrats underperformed around 4 points in PA in 2020....yeah. He can very well lose if there is some polling error like occurred in rust belt states in 2016 and 2020. He's being pounded by Oz with MASSIVE negative campaigning, and it seems to be working. Dude was up by 6-9%, now he's only up by 3-4. Hold the line, people, hold the line.
On Shapiro. Yeah yeah, I know, he's kind of a centrist loser, but at this point he's the only line of defense for abortion rights in PA. Also, Doug Mastriano is a nutcase and was literally a Jan 6ther. Don't let him win. Thankfully, the race seems to be going the other way there with Shapiro up by like 11. Once you're in the double digits you're well outside of the margin of error so I have like a 99% confidence he'll win, but still, don't show weakness and don't vote, run up those numbers.
If you have already voted like me, good for you. But if you haven't, please get out there. if you cant get your mail in ballots in your state or at this late stage in the game, make sure you can vote in person. And then do it. We need to stave off the GOP this time. For real. We can save our actual virtue signalling and political disagreements for 2024 when we may have another dem primary, and some third party guys might pop up. But for now, again, damage control.
Or do what you want. I'm not a voter shamer, so...
