Reacting to Donald Trump's response to his subpoena to congress

 So as we discussed recently, Trump was subpoenaed by the January 6th committee to testify regarding the alleged crimes he committed in inciting an insurrection. I discussed how I didn't know how he would respond to it, but now we know. He responded with a rather deranged 14 page letter discussing the subject. I'll be reading and responding to a little of it here. I won't respond to the whole thing, specifically the pictures of his massive crowd sizes (true story, he posted pictures of that in his letter) and pages and pages of alleged claims of malfeasance with the election (most of these have been taken to court and laughed out of the courtroom), but I do want to give readers an idea of what he said and how I would respond to it. 

Dear Chairman Thompson,
THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2020 WAS RIGGED AND STOLEN!

Oh god, he's doubling down, isn't he?

The same group of Radical Left Democrats who utilized their Majority position in
Congress to create the fiction of Russia, Russia, Russia, Impeachment Hoax #1,
Impeachment Hoax #2, the $48 Million Mueller Report (which ended in No
Collusion!), Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine, the atrocious and illegal Spying on my
Campaign, and so much more, are the people who created this Committee of
highly partisan political Hacks and Thugs whose sole function is to destroy the
lives of many hard-working American Patriots, whose records in life have been
unblemished until this point of attempted ruination. The double standard of the
Unselects between what has taken place on the “RIGHT,” and what has taken
place with Radical Left, lawless groups such as Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and
others, is startling and will never be acceptable, even to those who will be writing
the history of what you have done to America.

 You know, I tried mocking reading this out loud to my parents earlier, but then I realized most of this was just a massive unintelligible run on sentence just screaming about all of these things the democrats did that it just became unreadable. Seriously, read that out loud. Even try to imitate his voice. Does any of this make sense? No, it is just a massive stream of consciousness from a delusional madman.

Even I would admit the democrats werent perfect. Yeah, they had some salt over 2016, yeah, Hillary leaned too hard into Russia to distract from her obvious flaws. But still, to her credit, she actually conceded and didn't incite a riot with the obvious attempt to overturn the election.

This memo is being written to express our anger, disappointment, and complaint
that with all of the hundreds of millions of dollars spent on what many consider to
be a Charade and Witch Hunt, and despite strong and powerful requests, you have
not spent even a short moment on examining the massive Election Fraud that took
place during the 2020 Presidential Election, and have targeted only those who
were, as concerned American Citizens, protesting the Fraud itself. Those who
committed the Fraud, thereby having created the Crime of the Century, go unblemished and untouched, but those who fought the Crime have suffered a fate
that was unthinkable just a short time ago. We have a two-tier system of Justice in
the United States that cannot be allowed to continue. A Majority of people in our
Country say that the Presidential Election of 2020 was determinatively dishonest,
including the fact that many Legislatures were overridden by local and State
politicians and judges on vital regulations and requirements, which is totally illegal
and UNCONSTITUTIONAL. In February 2021, Time Magazine broke the story
of the shadow campaign that was launched to rig the 2020 Presidential Election.
The authors write:

 “‘To the President, something felt amiss. ‘It was all very, very strange,’
Trump said on Dec. 2. ‘Within days after the election, we witnessed an
orchestrated effort to anoint the winner, even while many key states were
still being counted.’ In a way, Trump was right. There was a conspiracy
unfolding behind the scenes...”

Well he's right about one thing. There is a two tiered system of justice. If he wasn't a former president he would be in jail right now. But yeah, he cries foul over everything.

But yeah, there was nothing fishy about the election. You lost. End of story. You had your day in court. You lost. You kept whipping people up with the "big lie" and you're STILL doing it.

You did not ask one question about any of this. Since 1888, no incumbent
President has gained votes and lost reelection. I received many millions more
votes in 2020 than I did in 2016, unheard of in our political History. When you
win Ohio, Florida, and Iowa, which I did in a landslide, no President has lost the
General Election since 1960. We swept all four bellwether States (Iowa, Florida,
Ohio, and North Carolina) that have correctly predicted Election winners since
1896. I won 18 of the 19 bellwether counties, my coattails secured the Victories of
27 out of 27 “toss up” House races, and the Democrats did not flip a single State
Legislature. Yet somehow Biden beat Obama with the Black population in select
Swing State cities, but nowhere else. It is all not possible, or very likely, but
should have been a major subject of your Committee’s work because it was the
Election result that brought this record-breaking crowd to Washington, D.C. on
January 6th.

 Yeah, let me try to answer these, because I generally can, being the numbers guy on elections. 

First of all, population increases. Who knew? Both sides got massive increases in voted. Biden just happened to have more. We just had higher turnout on both sides, and we had higher populations voting because, again, POPULATIONS TEND TO GO UP. 

If anything, Don, you should be lucky you did as well as you did. I estimated a 85% chance or so that Biden would win, and would you look at that, he won. You lucked out in 2016. But you did show in 2020 you still had one hell of a voter base to turn up for you. You should be proud you did as good as you did. Do you not realize before you came along the GOP was on the brink of collapse? The blue wall looked impenetrable, but you managed to break right through it. And in 2020, you showed that wasn't a fluke. You almost won again, and quite frankly, that fact scares the crap out of me. Because it shows you actually have a durable coalition, and that if the country isn't polarized against you, meaning lower turnout for the democrats, you could win AGAIN. 

And that's kind of what we need to look at with these recent elections. This is PARTY REALIGNMENT material. The elections are changing. States that were "bellweathers" no longer are. States that used to decide elections are now in your camp, and other states are now the swing states. Most notably, states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin are now considered some of the most important states to win. Arguably, states like Georgia and Arizona have been in play too. The democrats are gaining down south, and the GOP is gaining up north. This is realignment material.

And again, as a leftie, this scares the crap out of me. Because I'm pretty much convinced the trump coalition is NOT a fluke. It IS durable. And the democrats ARE losing what once looked to be a solid lock on the whitehouse due to their own ineptitude and centrism. Really. Things are changing, and it's not good. but pointing to the past doesnt mean crap, because these newer elections aren't the elections of years past. This isn't 1960 any more. This isn't even 2004, or 2008, or 2012 any more. Since you came along, Donald, the whole game has changed. Like literally, you threw the whole rulebook in the trash, and now you're complaining that the rules aren't following what the rules always did. Florida and Ohio arent the deciding election states any more. You won them, while the democrats won others that used to be in the R column pretty reliably.

Again, the same rules that worked so great for you in 2016 and allowed you to defy every conventional expectation just didn't work the same way in 2020. You happened to do a point or two worse overall and you happened to lose a few states you held in 2016. And it was enough to lose.

Again, I think you should think more about how well you did considering. Again, to me you proved that your coalition is viable. You made a leftie like me have an oh crap moment since I was pretty sure in 2016 your win was a fluke. it wasn't. Biden ALMOST lost, and it can happen again. 

Also, you realize cities are where most people live right? And POC hate you because you're an open racist who appeals to racists.

A large percentage of American Citizens, including almost the entire Republican
Party, feel that the Election was Rigged and Stolen (because they have seen the
determinative evidence, some of which is attached to this letter)

 

 Because the republicans arent known for living in reality. That's why they vote for you in the first place. Of course they believe you. They literally cant be reached by reason. Because their sense of truth and falsehoods is so far off that down is up and up is down.

 

 No work was done by the Committee on Election Fraud. We, and a huge portion
of the American people, simply asked that it be a part of your Committee’s work.
It wasn’t.

 Didn't you have like 68 court cases and you lost all of them?

In addition, the Unselect Committee has willfully ignored the fact that days before
January 6, 2021, I recommended and authorized thousands of troops to be deployed to ensure that there was peace, safety, and security at the Capitol and
throughout Washington, D.C. on January 6th because I knew, just based on instinct
and what I was hearing, that the crowd coming to listen to my speech, and various
others, would be a very big one, far bigger than anyone thought possible. As it
turns out, it was indeed one of the largest crowds I have ever spoken before, a very
wide swath stretching all the way back to the Washington Monument. The
massive size of this crowd, and its meaning, has never been a subject of your
Committee, nor has it been discussed by the Fake News Media that absolutely
refuses to acknowledge, in any way, shape or form, the magnitude of what was
taking place. In fact, for such a historic event, there are very few pictures that
accurately show the event, or how many people were really there. Incredibly, it
seems that pictures showing the size of the event were perhaps cancelled,
scrubbed, deleted or, in any event, not available, but we still have some—as
attached.

 THEN WHERE WERE THEY?!

Seriously, I watched the event take place. I was like WHERE THE FUDGE IS THE NATIONAL GUARD?! Seriously, you were cracking down on BLM protesters like no tomorrow, your people? Nothing. You very clearly sat on your hands and did nothing. And there's tons of documented evidence of this that was shown at these hearings.

And yes yes, it was a big crowd. We all know you have the best crowds right? (except didn't Obama's inauguration exceed yours?). Still, you did incite those people, you knew what they were doing, and hours of testimony at these hearings showed this. 

The Department of Defense timeline shows that National Guard troops could have
easily been present at the Capitol before January 6th and that I fully authorized this
recommendation and request. Following my authorization, the Department of
Defense was surprised to receive a wholesale refusal, in writing, from D.C. Mayor
Muriel Bowser and the Capitol Police, who do not report to me, but report to
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. The law requires their authorization before
any troop deployment could be utilized in Washington, D.C

THEN WHERE WERE THEY?!

Also, I seriously doubt you were refused, especially when they were trying to get these guys in during the attack but didn't know up for HOURS. Seriously, if this wasn't an act of malfeasance, the failure on the part of this police force makes Uvalde look mild by comparison. I doubt that's what happened though. I believe the evidence that you withheld support from the capitol to maximize the damage. 

Why the failure to act or use this ready force? Had even a small percentage of
National Guard or fencing been there, there would have been no problem, January
6th would have been just another date. I did my job long ahead of schedule. Some
people call it good instinct, but the troops were ready to go. Nancy Pelosi and
Muriel Bowser didn’t do their job, they didn’t like the look of soldiers, and sadly
your Committee refuses to say anything about it, because if they did, it would be
clear that I did everything correctly, and that is not what the Committee wants to
see. You stated openly that Nancy Pelosi is off limits, there will be no discussions
on this subject, yet she and the Mayor were responsible for this very bad decision
not to bring in the troops. The troops were ready to go, and you refuse to even
discuss this subject. Why?

I would like to see you argue this in front of the committee in the subpoena. let's see how they would respond to your defense.

Despite very poor television ratings, the Unselect Committee has perpetuated a
Show Trial the likes of which this Country has never seen before. There is no Due
Process, no Cross-Examination, no “real” Republican members, and no legitimacy
since you do not talk about Election Fraud or not calling up the troops. It is a
Witch Hunt of the highest level, a continuation of what has been going on for years. You have not gone after the people that created the Fraud, but rather great
American Patriots who questioned it, as is their Constitutional right. These people
have had their lives ruined as your Committee sits back and basks in the glow.

You realize not everything is about crowd sizes and ratings right? This is about justice. You might tend to measure your crowd sizes to compensate for something but the adults in the room don't need to. 

Also, there is lots of due process, and yes, republicans have testified, members of your administration have testified. 

And yes, I do believe people have a constitutional right to ask questions about the election being stolen. People have a right to be wrong. but when you shout fire in a crowded building, first amendment protections no longer exist. You were the one who shouted fire here. This is your fault. 

The people of this Country will not stand for unequal justice under the law, or
Liberty and Justice for some. Election Day is coming. We demand answers on the
Crime of the Century.

 

Yeah about unequal justice...why aren't you in jail yet? Anyone else would be given all the crap you've done.

 

Anyway, that's all for the main letter. The rest is just a bunch of pictures of his crowd sizes and lists of election claims. Many of which were tried in court and not found to be viable. I can't tell if this dude knows he's lying at this point, or if he's so delusional he believes his own BS. Probably both. Dude can't accept that he lost and keeps pushing this. Either way, I did expect him to throw red meat to his supporters over this and he did that. It doesnt matter how valid the evidence is against him and how disprove his election fraud claims are. His supporters will deny the evidence and lap up everything this guy says. So yeah this is just him acting defiant and pandering to his base, doing this immature "no u" thing. Kind of expected. Didn't think it would be this unhinged, but I should've seen this coming, this is Trump after all.

Anyway, that's what I think of this letter. I hope to see him actually testify in front of a congress that can talk back to him and disprove his nonsense. Looking forward to it.
