Dear centrist democrats: it is YOUR FAULT we are in this state!

So, I'm going to be throwing some major shade here, but I feel like I have to.

Dear centrist democrats: i have never come across a more obnoxious, self righteous, and toxic bunch, than yourselves. You turn people off. You turn people away. You think mocking and harassing them for not just mindlessly supporting your candidate is gonna somehow make them vote for them. IT DOESN'T, IT DOES THE EXACT OPPOSITE! And with the centrist dems deciding to keep relitigating 2016 in the face of clinton's comments, I really have to lay down the law for how off base you guys are.

Like, seriously, I can't say this on the forums I'm engaging on, but F you guys. You suck. I hate you. I DESPISE YOU! I might think the free palestine leftists are psycho, but again, in a competition between them and you, you are worse! Somehow. It's really the fact that even when i come around and somewhat agree with you, you STILL crap on me, because im not 100% ride or die on you. I'm not allowed to have nuance. I'm not allowed to say "yeah i voted green in 2016, but this time it's too dangerous", no, you guys have to "be right" about 2016 and try to back me into a corner and harass me for the cardinal sin of not just mindlessly voting for your candidate. To which i respond: "get screwed."

Seriously, screw you guys, and you know what, you're the reason we're in this situation in the first place. The reason the dems do so badly in elections? They cant turn out their base. Because they suck, and no one actually likes them. What wins elections is motivation, and turnout. And nothing is more demotivating, than people like you. Seriously, I won't do it because I know trump literally is that bad, but you literally make me WANT to vote for Jill Stein again out of spite. Just to piss you off. Just to see your smug faces lose their crap on election day. Just like I witnessed in 2016.

Seriously, wanna know what I thought that night when trump won in 2016? Serves you fricking right. You guys tried to bully us and shame us and mock us and harass us, and the voters basically said "F you guys" and voted Trump. I literally thought this would be a wakeup call, but you guys learned nothing, you blamed russia, and you tried the same crap the next time. And you won...because just like 2016 was a referendum on democrats, 2020 was a referendum on trump. But here we are, in 2024, with this election being a referendum on Biden, and he aint doing well. Because no one actually likes him.

Seriously, I know the dems are gonna get self righteous and go on about how "the voters" chose them, but really, primary elections have a massive selection bias, and just because something works in an echo chamber of like minded people doesnt mean it works in the real world. The problem of 2024 is as such. Trump is motivating and bringing out his base. Biden is not. And as such, Biden is down 6 points from his 2020 baseline, where he barely won, by 1.2 points in effect. And that's why my election predictions have Trump at an 80-85% chance of winning. it's all the enthusiasm gap. People were united last time to get trump out, but this time they're not motivated to keep him out. We can debate the morality of such a thing, even I would, in principle, side with the "blue no matter whoers" that voting for Biden is the right thing to do in these circumstances, but people aren't buying it. Because people don't actually like Biden. Most of us never wanted Biden, and now this dude is ancient, he's unpopular, he ain't doing things, and people are pissed off about grocery prices and the economy. The same economy Biden himself is touting as amazing, people arent buying it. Because inflation is up, unemployment is low but people can't afford to live. We're not in a happy place.

I was gonna do an article on this separately, but I might as well discuss it now. All of this inflation is largely because of corporate greed. We already knew this from the EPI study a few years back, but yeah, corporations are shock doctrining their way to higher prices and trying to take customers for everything they got and it's making people unhappy. I do suspect this might eventually lead to a bubble that pops 2008 fashion, but right now, corporations are raking in record profits while people can't afford basic needs. Of course they're unhappy, and what is Biden doing about it? not much. To be fair, he cant do much, not without congress, or the courts, but still, that's always been an issue with Biden. He's never been "the guy" to do progressive things. he has done SOME progressive things, and I recognize that, it's part of the reasons I'm on board with him, but he needs to do more. he needs to get out there and try to assuage this crisis. And you know what? he needs to be progressive. More progressive than he is. And he needs to fight, and he needs to tell people what he wants to do and how it will help them. He cant just roll over to the GOP like he is, or he will lose.

I admit, it's frustrating. A lot of voters dont understand policy, or politics well in general. And to be fair, I'm not on board with the leftists screaming about "genocide joe" either. And even I take shots at these guys too online. Because they cant be satisfied and they should be called out for that.

but this toxic voter shaming culture the left has going on has to stop. Kyle Kulinski covered the the clinton thing today, and how she got skewered by the person interviewing her about this. And how telling people to get over it and to suck it up and vote biden isnt gonna solve anything. And that doesnt solve anything. And he pointed out something I've been saying for years. On the right, the party is afraid of their voters. And that's one reason they've gotten so extreme. But on the left, the party DESPISES their voters. Seriously, dems treat leftists like crap. We can talk about whether it's justified, whether it's reasonable, and I'm kind of a fence sitter this time around. i do think the dems need to move left, especially on economics, and think more like FDR or a social democrat, and the dems just wont do this. Even Biden is too moderate compared to what a lot of people on the left want. Of course, at the same time, leftists do ask too much. They're asking too much on the free palestine thing, and even on economics I feel like they've lost the plot and even I'm too moderate for them because they've gotten completely crazy and went full on socialist.

However, in my estimation, the reason they've gotten this crazy is the dems refused to meet them most of the way earlier. They treated the left with disdain in 2016 and 2020 and now those same leftists arent taking it any more. They're done. They're sick and tired of this crap. Again, we can debate whether this is the time to do it, and whether gaza is worth doing it over (and trust me, I'm actually on the establishment's side on that one, no, 2024 isnt the right time, and gaza isn't the right issue), but again, I do kinda get the malaise here.

Literally the only reason why I'm backing Biden is because I'm convinced this is the best we can do this election cycle, and given how scary trump has become this election cycle, with the rank authoritarianism and disdain for democracy. It's not that Biden is my ideal candidate. it's not that I LIKE him. I TOLERATE him. And I would encourage people to take that bitter pill of voting for Biden to save democracy.

Still, I get it. We want better, we deserve better. It's frustrating. And these smarmy neolibs need to lay the heck off. All antagonizing people is gonna do is make the situation worse. You're literally vegeta asking for energy for the spirit bomb to finish off buu once and for all. You think screaming at people is gonna help, it's not. You're just pissing people off. NO ONE LIKES YOU. And you're not helping your likeability problem by screaming at us that we better suck it up and like you or else.

Idk what the answer is. The fact is, the center is right this election cycle. We need to come together and unite against Trump. But, they've played this card so often, and they're so obnoxious and self righteous, that no one listens to them, and for good reason. I hate these people too. If this were a normal election cycle, maybe I'd be joining the left again in another protest vote attempt. but this isn't a normal election, and we're stuck between a rock and a hard place. So we're all gonna have to be friends somehow. Can we at least start by NOT attacking each other? The fact that you got me on board for 2024 should be enough. By screaming at me about 2016, you're just pissing me off. And btw, I dont regret 2016, the way you're acting, you totally had it coming. And by rights, you totally deserve it again. I just won't do it while democracy itself is on the line. So consider yourself lucky. But make no mistake, I hate each and every last one of you who acts like this, we are not friends, and after 2024, our transactional alliance is over. Because you really are crap at winning people over. You got my vote, but you don't got my heart and mind, got it?
