So....I really have to vent over this stuff. I saw a post on a leftist forum where they were discussing Biden's new minimum tax proposal on the rich. Biden basically implemented 15% earlier in his term, and he wants to raise it to like 21% or something in his SOTU. Anyway, apparently businesses are freaking out over this, which tells me Biden is doing something right. I mean, rich people dont like to be taxed, he's moving left, taxing the rich, this could raise revenue for social programs and the like.
Well....the leftist response? "NOT GOOD ENOUGH!" "BLAH BLAH BLAH IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!" "BLAH BLAH BLAH THIS IS A VIRTUE SIGNAL!" "BLAH BLAH BLAH HE JUST WANTS OUR VOTES!" and even "BLAH BLAH BLAH LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GAZA CEASE FIRE BLAH BLAH BLAH GENOCIDE JOE!"
And...look, I really hate having to go down this path of sounding like a blue maga blue no matter who idiot, but uh....ARE YOU PEOPLE FRICKING INSANE?!
The point of withholding our votes...is to push him left, so that he does progressive stuff, so that we vote for him...when he does progressive stuff, as a reward for doing progressive stuff. The point of the strategy of saying "earn our votes"....is to make him EARN OUR VOTES! But when he earns them, you then vote for him. This is one of the reasons I'm falling in behind him in 2024. I admit Biden is not perfect, he'll never meet all of my demands or wants, but has he done enough to EARN a vote? Yes, I would say so. He has greatly exceeded my expectations, which were admittedly near zero, and I'm happy to reward him with a vote, especially given Im not thrilled with the third party options, and given that we're dealing with a fascist on the republican ticket.
But these guys are just screaming at him, basically saying nothing he ever does is good enough, crapping on him even when he does good things, and basically punishing him for trying. He's facing real potential political fallout from his donor class for promoting stuff like this, and progressives won't even vote for him?! You realize if Biden loses, the DNC is just gonna scream that it was Biden's fault for going far left and offering risky stuff to lefties that didnt play well with the center, right, and then they'll NEVER DO ANYTHING WE ASK THEM TO EVER AGAIN, right?
Because here's the thing. Biden realizes, after what happened in 2016, that the dems cant just ignore the left. Hillary IGNORED us. She was HOSTILE to us. She was like YOU GUYS WILL NEVER GET ANYTHING BUT YOU BETTER VOTE FOR US OR ELSE! Biden is FAR more progressive than Hillary 2016 ever was. And he's governing like a Bernie lite. I admit it's only a "lite" version of Bernie, not the whole thing, but it's still a significant shift. But here's the thing, if we dont vote for this guy in November, the DNC is gonna say "never again" to listening to lefties and they'll just go back to being openly hostile to us. Because if the center votes, but the left doesn't, and the net impact on Biden's numbers is negative for trying to do progressive things, then guess what? We won't get anything, they'll start to ignore us again, and it will only be yourselves to blame.
I don't really want to voter shame, but if youre a progressive who wants progressive things, and when Biden does the progressive things you asked for, and you dont vote for them, YOU'RE PART OF THE FRICKING PROBLEM! I'm just going to say it. Because you're being so unreasonable and unreliable that no one should ever fricking listen to you ever again. So come back down from whatever extremist nonsense you're on and get back in reality NOW. We are LOSING. Biden only has an 18% chance of winning as of now. And the leftists refusing to vote for him aren't helping, even as he is trying to move left to appease us. This is what we wanted in the first place. For the dems to move left. So let's reward them for it, instead of punishing them for sticking their necks out.
Really. I just had to rant. Because I'm getting so sick and tired of this crap. F this entire election cycle. This is like the election cycle from hell. I thought 2016 was bad, but this is starting to feel worse.
