So, I'm noticing democrats are starting to sound like the republicans who lost 2020. They're claiming the election was rigged, that votes werent counted properly, that Elon Musk changed the results with Starlink somehow, and that the results are weird either because Trump overperformed, or because people voted for the democrats in the senate, but not for president.
Seriously guys, go touch grass. You lost. The results were not abnormal. The polls indicated that Harris would lose. To be fair, it was close enough to 50-50 where the race was a tossup, but Trump had a 54% of victory and Harris a 46% chance. A one point overperformance for democrats would give us 276-262 and Harris would have one, whereas a 1 point underperformance would lose us Wisconsin and Michigan, giving us the 226-312 outcome that we got. Harris underperformed by around 2-3 points. This is no different than 2016 and 2020, where democrats underperformed in both of those elections too. This is no different than 2022, where democrats OVERPERFORMED by 3 points or so, and these same democrats laughed at how the polls were wrong.
Look, this level of under/overperformance isn't abnormal. At all. It happens. It happens to some extent virtually every election. The results of this election were on par with my other predictions in previous elections going back to 2008. This wasn't abnormal. The results are...what we expected. And unless the republicans somehow rigged all 50 states to overperform to varying degrees, then you have no argument. This was just how it ended up.
As for the senate, the polls indicated this would happen for MONTHS. The senate candidates showed performing several points better than the presidential ones. And because the GOP overperformed in general, we had PA flip the other way (although that's possibly being contested as the result was close enough to trigger a recount). And yeah, outside of PA, the results are....what we expected. The polling was largely accurate, and the GOP overperformed.
Look, I know you're upset that you lost. Trump is a danger to democracy. But let's not forget WHY he's a danger. It's because four years ago, when he lost the 2020 election, he was doing EXACTLY WHAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING. He was whining. he was screaming it was rigged, making up crazy conspiracy theories, and he incited his followers to storm the capitol. Harris already conceded and accepted the results, as she should have. And you guys have to too. We lost this one, guys. Fair and square. Trump won. And I know that's hard to hear, but that's the reality of it. Rejecting the results is anti democratic, and exactly what we'd expect from...well...him....
We need to protect democracy. But that also means respecting it enough to give it to him. And from there, we must resist his agenda with the power that we have left. And next time, hopefully there will be a next time, we can try again. Hopefully by then we will have a better candidate, with a better agenda, and Trump will have lost his luster. Here's to hoping.
What we need to do now is figure out what our next steps are, and go from here. All I know is denying the election results is the wrong move. You guys have been in your own little world all election cycle, nay, you've been in it since 2015, and you keep ignoring the signals the voters keep giving you. Get your heads out of you know where, and into the game.
