Discussing AOC-Trump voters

So, in addition to the other video, this one kinda tore me up too tonight. This one discusses voters who voted for AOC, but then also voted for Trump. Basically, a lot of the voters were...quite frankly...stupid. They are pissed off with the way things are, they want change, and they like AOC because she represents change....but they also like Trump because he has the same energy.

What people rejected this election wasn't the left as a whole, they rejected milquetoast centrism. There was a lot of talk about Harris and her braindead campaign, and how she leaned into that "opportunity economy" BS that no one fricking likes except that narrow band of fricking Cheney voters she was trying to appeal to. And yeah, it frustrates me.

I feel like, a lot of America wants change. They want it desperately. But they also don't know what they want. So they'll vote for anything that seems like change. Even something as harmful as Trump. Imagine voting for Trump...because he represents change....from a crappy status quo. Basically, just like 2016 again. In that election cycle, people were clamoring for a better economic life. In this one, they were too, we were just on the other side of the phillips curve. And because of the original sin of 2016 as I call it, we keep going between this milquetoast democratic party that is ineffective and doesnt wanna do anything, and this emboldened GOP that's getting scarier and scarier every election cycle.

Honestly? The left needs to offer a vision that actually resonates with people. And...conveniently for me, that means that yes, we DO have to go further left. Milquetoast centrism won't win the day. That's what the voters rejected. It wasn't "the left", it wasnt progressivism, it was that crappy form of centrism the democrats keep forcing on us election cycle after election cycle. If we don't realign the parties along progressive lines, undoing the original sin of 2016, then the right will offer a vision, and their vision is nothing but hate and demagoguery.

Anyway, the left just collapsed. And maybe it's better this way. Now we can rebuild, learning the right lessons along the way. If we even get that far before the country falls into one party autocracy....

Sorry for the dooming, guys...
