So, David Pakman decided to discuss Cornel West and MAN was this a terrible video. He basically looked at why he changed parties 4 times and called it a "word salad".
I listened to it and found it cogent. I know that people have been grilling west over this, but it makes sense. First he joined the peoples' party, but I remember there were a lot of questions about it. There's a lot of controversies floating around the internet about its leadership, and its internal culture, and its seriousness in running a presidential campaign. Those weren't brought up directly, but West did mention he was encouraged to switch to the greens so he did.
Then the greens had too rigid a structure for him. They had a lot of mandatory meetings and fundraising events and he just wanted to...campaign i guess. Fair enough. I hate the internal mechanisms of that BS too. And then Jill Stein ran, and as we know they kinds have almost the same platform and are redundant.
So then he became an independent. But he couldnt get on the ballot in some states without being a part of a party (given how difficult our system makes it to get on the ballot, a clear attempt to suppress independent candidates) so he formed his own party infrastructure.
And then here comes david pakman, calling him incoherent, not serious, etc. And it comes off as hacky. And of course, pakman's real intention was obvious. "Is this worth giving 4 years to trump over?" Again, more blue no matter who crap.
Can this guy NOT just full on simp for the democratic party? I mean, jesus, if you dont like west, fine, I personally aint a huge fan of him, and I even think trump is too dangerous to allow a second term, but the weird "blue maga" cult like elements are obnoxious. no one wants to hear about this every fricking 17.2 seconds. Seriously. This crap is ineffective, and even worse, no one outside of the biden faithful cares. Right after I listened to breaking points showing a focus group of RFK voters and ugh, while I dont like those guys either, it seems like so many people are on a totally different page right now. These tactics of voting arent effective. if anything they're counterproductive and people are sick and tired of voting for one guy to vote for another.
I would agree that this isnt the cycle to litigate this issue, given Trump IS that much of a threat. Heck I'd even grant people that a lot of independent voters arent that smart. But seriously, can we stop just flat out character assassinating a third party candidate just because YOU think they should vote for Biden as a lesser evil instead?
Im not huge on west. heck, at this point, i think I'd prefer Biden over a leftist like west or stein. Admittedly, barring the trump problem it's not a massive preference. I can go either way. I agree with the dems and biden more on some stuff, i agree with the left more on other stuff. Right now the balance it tipped in favor of the democrats. But if the democrats suck, I've had no problems going for someone like Stein or West in the past (I even voted for stein once) and could do so again.
Honestly, dems need to stop this lesser evils crap. if they wanna be the party everyone wants to vote for, they need to start thinking of how to be the greater good. And hacky, dishonest attacks against a third party candidate as not serious simply because he changed his party a few times during the campaign is kinda dumb. Focus on ideas, not on stupid crap like this.
