Yes yes yes, Palestine isn't Hamas, but...

 So, I keep hearing lefties keep saying that Palestine isn't all Hamas, and that we shouldn't turn on Palestine because of Hamas. I kind of agree. However, Hamas is a large political party in Palestine, and represents a plurality of views on Palestine. Basically, they're the equivalent of the republican party, with the other faction, Fatah, being the equivalent of the democratic party. 

So...let's be honest. Palestine had elections, they put Hamas in charge, and Hamas decided to do this insane suicidal/homicidal plan to invade Israel. And, they're nuts. As some have pointed out, they don't care about Israeli civilians, because their goal is to have zero jews in the region. And they're okay with killing them if that accomplishes the goal. 

Again, you can't reason with these people when they're that far gone. They are a literally genocidal faction of Palestinian politics, and are currently the face of those politics. And if they basically go into a state of all out war with Israel, what else can Israel do but fight back. They don't have much of a choice.

This isn't to say that, as some have pointed out, Palestine doesn't deserve better. of course they do. But until their side takes genocide and war off the table and insists on negotiation and reform, I don't see why Israel would be inclined to soften their stance.

People love to talk about how the west's actions often turn other countries into offensive monsters who act as they do, but let's flip it the other way. All these terrorist attacks do is drive support for the far right hardliners, who run their own campaigns on maintaining security. Their stance is that they can't negotiate with the palestinians, because they are extremists who won't see reason. And honestly, given their current leadership, they're kind of right. 

Honestly, if I were a citizen of Israel, I would probably be more supportive of the Likud types with this stuff going on. If you want to ease tensions, you gotta show you're not a threat. You gotta make the Far right types in Israel look heartless and like they're out of touch. But when Hamas does this crap...yeah. I just lose all sympathy for them. Maybe not everyone in Palestine voted for them, and maybe some did want a more moderate faction in charge, but hey, with these guys attacking Israel like this, Israel is gonna respond, and people on the sidelines are gonna be more sympathetic to them. I know I sure as fudge am.
